Join us for the 2018 EJF/Warren Wilson College Field Day at the Berry Site. This family friendly, open house-styled event is FREE to the public ($5/car parking donation suggested). Take this chance to get out to see the site in all its glory! Enjoy:
-Archaeological Site Tours: Hear the story and learn what discoveries have been made far this field season. Offered by the Berry Site’s lead researchers Dr. David Moore and Dr. Chris Rodning.
-Artifact displays: See the cool things that have been found on site.
-Catawba Nation artisans:Our friends from the Catawba Nation (descendants of the 16th century Joarans) will be sharing their culture through art, basketry, ceramic, language, and story. A can’t miss!
-Craftsmen: Experts in pottery and traditional skills, like flint knapping (the process of making a stone tool) will show you how things used to be done.
-Spanish reenactors: Just what did Juan Pardo and his men look like? What were their lives like here in the Carolinas? You’ll have to stop by to find out!
-Kid’s scavenger hunt: Junior explorers will be rewarded for keen eyes. First 45 successful kids will receive a free stone replica arrowhead necklace.
-Awarding of the 2018 EJF Youth Bookmark Competition winners.
-Food and drinks
